It's a better choice to wait until you're married...

CNN reports at least 1 in 4 teen girls ages 14 to 19 in America has a sexually transmitted disease.

Who has an STD?

  • 50% of black teen girls
  • 20% of white teen girls
  • 20% of Mexican-American teen girls

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention conducted the research. It is heartbreaking to realize that so many teen girls have made the moral mistake of sex before marriage and are suffering because of it.

According to The Barna Group and LifeWay Research, 1 in 2 teens in America attend church. But sadly some of these church-going teens are also included in the statistic of STD carriers.

Hey Brian,

I am glad you posted this report. I have been on this soapbox for about three months now.

The reason the study only address women is because HPV, an STD that is the fastest growing STD and is contracted through skin contact and not bodily fluids like HIV, is not at the current time detectable in males, unless they are having an outbreak of genital warts.

So, the stat of 1 in 4 is a little misleading because we don't know how many males are infected with HPV. The best guess that the CDC (center for disease control)has is that it might be about 40-45% of all high school aged students have an STD-again with HPV being the leading cause. We have teens who are claiming to be virgins who are infecting each other at an alarming rate because they will do everything but have intercourse.
When in fact ANY sexual activity going on below the waist with an infected partner can lead to contracting HPV.

In males who have HPV, they need to have the warts on their genitals "burned" off, painful, I am sure. In females HPV can leave them sterile and is the leading cause of cervical cancer. Women are a little more at risk. The warts are not always visiable-especially on females, but the person is still contagious even without warts being present.

So, yes, wait, would be the correct answer.

I have several videos by a speaker named Pam Stenzel who speaks to schools about this issue on my Facebook, if you visit there, you can also find them on YOUTUBE.

Thanks again for spreading the word.

Grace and Peace,
Stephen Luzader
