Everything I Needed To Know About Life I Learned on the Offensive Line

Always keep your feet moving, never stand still.

You are never alone.

Always keep your head up.

And always know what is happening around you.

Be kind to those in authority.

Never be afraid to ask for help.

If you know what you are supposed to be doing, then help those who don’t.

Be flexible.

If someone is being unfair in life there is always someone you can tell.

Never expect for everyone to be fair.

Protect those who are smaller or weaker then you.

Do your part.

Never complain about your day because chances are the person next to you is having just as bad, or a worse day.

Don’t believe all you hear.

(Especially, if it involves your family)

Give better then you get.

Encourage each other, constantly.

Watch for life’s “blitzes”, ask for aid if you can’t handle them on your own, and go to the aid of someone who asks for your help.

You will get bloody and dirty, accept that fact.

Perfect technique can overcome size and weight.

Be confident in your movements.

Launch yourself into projects like a coiled spring.

If you get caught red handed, don’t deny or argue, it only makes you look more foolish and in the end won’t change a thing. But always apologize to those you have let down.

Never give an inch when it’s important.

When you need to make progress against tough opposition square your shoulders, never take you eyes of the target, dig in and drive with all your might.

Listen to instructions, and block out distractions.

Talk to each other.

Keep going to the “whistle”.

Learn to use your hands in new and creative ways.

It’s just a game, enjoy it while it lasts.

Do what you have to do without seeking recognition. You may never get the spotlight, but what you do is important in life and others depend on you. So clear a path that others may proceed without obstacles. Make your goal to help others reach their goals. Because

those that you have truly helped will know that it was you who made them successful. And in the end success is measured by how well we worked together.
