Master Provisions

Alright . . . so on Saturday morning a few of us went to a warehouse at the Marathon-Ashland Oil compound to pack clothes that will be sent overseas to folks in need. A few remarkable things about our outing:

(1) Serving is fun. I mean . . . throwing Hotwheels underroos at people and still making a difference in the world? Trying on ridiculous looking clothing? Laughing, joking, all while doing something good? Does it get any better than that?

(2) Synergy. The whole is SO much greater than the sum of its parts. By working together we can accomplish a ton more than we could by ourselves.

(3) We have SO much. The amount of perfectly good clothing that is discarded by us is sad. It's completely ridiculous. The truth is we all have enough clothes in our drawers and closets to last us probably the next 10 years. But we buy more. And more. And more. And more. And toss away perfectly good clothes. Why? I'm not real sure. Something to do with our pride and vanity maybe. We all ought to be more thankful for everything we have.

(4) There's plenty in this world. Even though we are somewhat wasteful with our clothes, by redirecting these perfectly good clothes to another part of the world we see that there is plenty. There's plenty to go around if we could just redirect resources, be charitable and SHARE; like we were supposed to learn in pre-school.

Anyway . . . enjoy the pictures. And if you didn't make it out this time . . . we're going again in October!
